Food is what attracts termites to any home. Our homes are rich in termites’ favourite food source – wood.  Termites also prefer nesting in damp and cold areas. Uproot any stumps that you can find. Store firewood and mulch away from your house. Make sure they are not in contact with the ground and are properly covered.

If you have a leaky pipe, clogged gutter, unfinished basement, open cellars, or drafty attic, then your might become a target for termite invasion.  Termites love moisture. They thrive in such an environment. Furthermore, a moist environment will damage wood, making the situation even better for termites. So, these areas will become a suitable nesting sites for termites, especially when termite swarmers enter your home unknowingly.

It is important to properly ventilate your home to prevent termite infestations from happening. Make sure there are no clogs or leaks. It’s best to seal areas near the ground to prevent termites from getting in.
