It can cause skin irritations, itchiness, and rashes.  Allergic reactions may also happen when people touch frass or termite feces with their bare hands.  Some termite species also secrete chemicals when threatened, which can also cause an allergic reaction. Even the dust from termite nests can cause asthma. This is why it’s better to equip yourself properly when handling a termite infestation.

Secondary pesticide poisoning is another way on how are termites harmful to humans. Pesticides and chemicals used to treat termite infestation are easy to misuse. This can cause health problems like nausea, respiratory problems, and irritations. This is why homeowners should follow the necessary steps when applying chemicals and pesticides to treat termites. To avoid unnecessary risk, it’s better to hire a pest control expert to ensure the proper and safe application of termite treatment. Another option is to use termite treatment that is safe and natural.

Mold

Termites are natural dispersers of mold. Mold grows in the same dark and damp environments as termites. Termites easily spread mold spores as they crawl and chew through wood. People can inhale the spores or could land on the skin. This could cause allergies, irritations, fungal infections, skin diseases, and even toxicity. Mold exposure can also cause an eye infection, dermatitis, memory loss, as well as Aspergilloma. Aspergilloma is a rare disease when mold grows in the lungs.
